Objectives:
To be able to introduce a safe system of work into a WAH situation. To become competent in basic Rope Access Skills to gain access to WAH sites. Become competent in the use of rope systems. To understand legal requirements and emergency procedures in line with the WAH regulations 2005.
Course content:
The Working at Height Regulations 2005 Safe Systems of Work Methods of Fall Protection Existing Safe Working platforms Anchor identification and selection Movement on rope systems (ascending / descending, passing knots, rope to rope transfer, passing deviations, fixed and mobile aid climbing) Fall arrest methods and understanding of suspension intolerance Problem solving for Rope Systems on the incident ground Casualty management and movement. Risk assessing, identifying hazards and planning the work task. Inspection care and maintenance
Skill base:
Fitting and adjustment of harness Fitting and use of twin lanyards Understanding practically the use of the energy absorbing lanyards Fitting and use of work positioning equipment Correct use of PPE anchors and anchor systems including belay loading limits Use of work restraint systems to gain access to exposed edges Ability to access all areas on rope systems Pulley systems and mechanical advantage systems Friction factors Twin line cableways.
