Description: 

To provide the individual with the information on how to enter a Medium Risk Confined Space area safely. To understand gas monitoring systems and how to determine the readings.  To be able to run the permit control system and to oversee all activities within the space and use Tripod/Davit and Winch to gain entry and exit.

Course content:

Personal protective equipment required.       
Use of personal protective equipment and fall arrest methods.
Identification of confined space with regard to risk category.   
Legal requirements involved with confined spaces.     
Use of gas monitoring equipment and atmospheric conditions.   
The use of Breathing Apparatus Escape Sets     
Use of Tripod/Davit for entry and exit from the space.     
Types of rescue equipment available.       
Safe systems of work within the Confined Space.   

Skill Base:

Correct harness fitting. 
Correct use of all personal protective equipment.   
Safe entry into confined spaces.       
Fall arrest systems and safe anchorage points.    
Use of gas monitoring and detection systems.   
Use of Escape Breathing Apparatus sets.     
Carry out a recovery of a casualty from within the space.   
Use of tripod / quadpod for rescue purposes.
